This project is the outcome of a workshop led by Céline Park with support from the Jeju Mecénat Association, developed through an immersive 15-day residency in which four artists—Kim Iwha, Choi Mijin, Sohn Jimin, and Moon Soohyuk—were selected via an open call and lived alongside Jeju haenyeo. During this period, the artists closely observed the haenyeo’s daily routines, engaged in extended conversations, and experienced the rhythms of their working and communal life. Rather than a short-term visit or extractive field research, the workshop centered on building trust, participating in everyday tasks, and understanding the subtle social dynamics that shape the haenyeo community. The resulting exhibition emerges from this sustained engagement, translating lived encounters, shared narratives, and embodied knowledge into contemporary artistic forms. As a whole, the project represents a collaborative attempt to reinterpret the worldview, communal ethics, and lived realities of Jeju haenyeo through design-driven and research-based creative practices. Throughout the process, Céline met with the designers once a week—via Zoom or in-person sessions—to provide direction, discuss progress, and support the development of each artist’s project.

이 프로젝트는 셀린 박이 메세나 제주협회의 지원을 받아 진행한 장기 워크숍의 결과물로, 오픈콜을 통해 선발된 김이화, 최미진, 손지민, 문수혁 네 명의 아티스트가 제주 현지에 머물며 해녀들과 15일간 동고동락한 경험을 바탕으로 제작되었다. 참여 아티스트들은 해녀들의 일상과 작업을 가까이에서 관찰하고, 직접 대화를 나누고, 함께 생활하며 얻은 서사와 감각을 각자의 방식으로 시각화했다. 이 과정은 단순한 취재나 단기 인터뷰가 아닌, 해녀 공동체와의 신뢰 관계 형성을 중심으로 한 몰입형 리서치였으며, 전시는 이 시간이 축적한 관계의 깊이와 현장에서 생성된 수많은 이야기들을 바탕으로 구성되었다. 결과적으로 본 프로젝트는 제주 해녀들이 지닌 세계관과 공동체적 규범, 그리고 그들의 삶의 결을 동시대적 언어로 재해석하는 협업적 시도라 할 수 있다.
